EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

  • August-September 2019: Pop-up versions of the National Archives exhibit Rightfully Hers will be distributed to 16 venues across the Tennessee including schools, libraries, museums, and community sites—to be displayed for the centennial.

  • August 18, 2019, 3-5pm (CT): Book Talk with Elaine Weiss, an event with the Nashville Public Library. This summer, read Elaine Weiss’s book The Woman’s Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote and join the author on August 18 at the Main Library, 615 Church St., for a discussion.

  • April 6, 2020 - May 25, 2020One Half of the People: Advancing Equality for Women, a traveling exhibit by the National Archives at the Memphis Pink Palace Museum.

  • August 2019-August 2020: Historic Women’s Suffrage Exhibit at the Hermitage Hotel, a display of The Hermitage Hotel's private collection of historic artifacts dating from the summer of 1920, when suffragists were headquartered in the hotel.

  • August 2019-August 2020: Suffrage Cocktails at the Hermitage Hotel, a specially-crafted beverage experience inspired by the Prohibition-era and storied women’s suffrage leaders like Carrie Chapman Catt and Ann Dallas Dudley.

  • June-August 2020: Suffrage Menu at the Hermitage Hotel, a selection of culinary delights dating back to the 1920s crafted by Executive Chef Derek Brooks of The Hermitage Hotel’s Capitol Grille.

  • August 24, 2019: Wreath-Laying at the Tennessee Suffrage Monument.

    October 20, 2019: Tea with Harry T. Burn, featuring Tyler Boyd, author and great-grand-nephew of Harry T. Burn, who will give a book talk about his illustrious relative who cast the final vote that passed the 19th Amendment.

  • November 7, 2019: “By One Vote”: Women’s Suffrage in the South, a screening of a one-hour NPT documentary on the struggle for Women's Suffrage in the South.

  • February 17-20, 2019: 72 Steps with TPAC and the Nashville Ballet, a ballet for school-age audiences that takes an empowering and celebratory look at the ratification of the 19th Amendment and the vital role Tennessee played in it.

  • February 2020: Performance of Florence Price and Nkeiru Okoye Songs with Intersection, part of a year-long musical project celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment and lifting up the voices of women.

  • March 2020 - March 2021: Women’s Suffrage Commemoration at the Parthenon.

  • April 2020: MUSICA NUEVE with Intersection, part of a year-long musical project celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment and lifting up the voices of women.

  • June - August 2020: Summer 2020 Female-Artist Music Series, a monthly concert series featuring local Nashville women musicians in the historic Grand Lobby of The Hermitage Hotel.

  • August 6, 2020: Yellow Rose Gala at the Hermitage Hotel, a ticketed multi-course dinner featuring notable women chefs brought in from across the country to celebrate the centennial of women’s suffrage and the passing of the 19th Amendment.

  • August 13-20, 2020: Prohibition-Era and Suffragette-Themed Pop-up Bar at the Hermitage Hotel.

  • August 2020: Songs of Suffrage, a semi-staged story propelled by music of the suffrage movement, newly arranged for Nashville Opera.

  • August 2020: Continued Work with Intersection, part of a year-long musical project celebrating the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment and lifting up the voices of women. 

  • September 10-12, 2020: Women’s Suffrage Centennial Celebration Featuring the Nashville Symphony, a season-opening program commemorating the centennial of the 19th Amendment. This concert features the world premiere of a work co-commissioned by the Nashville Symphony from Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Julia Wolfe.
